Respecting Teachers and Mentors
Hierarchical relationships are a part of Japanese culture, and have been a concern to me ever since I began formally learning Japanese at UC Berkeley. Honestly, I don’t like the system, but not liking it doesn’t make it go away, or make me exempt from it. So I decided to put some thought into it, try a couple things, and I think I found a good “solution” to it!
Conquering the Visa
One of the best ways to deal with a problem is to learn more about the problem itself. I think many of us lost track of that simple concept somewhere along the way. And we end up wasting so much energy just stressing ourselves over… nothing, lol.
Aya Kitae
Quick post just to keep me in the momentum of writing something every day! The original plan today was to head over to Karaoke with Andy, Mami, and Nelson, but Andy couldn’t make it so we postponed the meeting until next week. So instead, I thought I would take the opportunity (it was Mami’s day [...]
Getting into the Groove
It’s been quite an adventure since I arrived here in Japan. I’ve had plenty of trial and tribulations, and now I feel that I’ve finally picked up the tools I need in order to make my dreams come true.
Flock, RSS, Gravatars, and Password Managers
Currently, I’m working on getting styling and portfolio websites online so that I have a place to put all my work. And since that’s not going to get done tonight (at least I don’t think so), I thought I would share some information about RSS and Gravatars for those who don’t know about them already. I actually had no idea about them until I started this blog, but for those who like to follow multiple blogs, I have to say that they’ve made life a lot easier.
Double Your Dating Quotes
Originally, I was going to compile a collection of quotes that have shaped my life from a collection of sources, and I decided to start with Double Your Dating by David DeAngelo because it was the first significant book that changed my life. And since I couldn’t remember the quotes exactly, I thought I would browse through and find them.
That, however, just got me to read the entire book all over again. But wow, it’s been five years.
A Hint to Discovering Your Dreams
This is actually something form the intuition session with Ken and Lynn (thanks for reading my blog, Lynn!), but it’s quite an interesting exercise. Ask yourself this question:
You walk into a room with 30 people who have been waiting for you. What do you do for them?
Lynn Robinson x Ken Honda : Intuition
I was excited. And maybe that’s an understatement. After all, I was going to see Ken Honda, the man whose book gave me the courage to quit my job, move to Japan, and pursue my dreams!
So I thought I would share the experience I had last night. It’s a story about meeting new friends, learning new things, and some amazing surprises!
Intuition Seminar
I AM OVERFLOWING WITH INSPIRATION RIGHT NOW! I went the joint seminar on intuition by Lynn Robinson and Ken Honda, and it was AMAZING! Part of it was the seminar itself, and part of it was what happened after it ended! But to quickly summarize, I learned some great things about intuition, I met Ken [...]
Over-Generalizations are NG
* Fifty eight more days to make my dreams come true! I was working on my article when I found that I might have made an over-generalization, so I had to take the time to think it through. And actually, it’s me having made a lot of those over-generalizations that has also made this article [...]
